The Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) and Asean Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC) were held from October 10-12, at the Suntec Convention Centre and Shangri-La Hotel. Brunei Darussalam was represented by the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, who was accompanied by the CEO of BruCERT (Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team) and several senior officers from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office.

The inaugural SICW 2016 was built around Singapore's annual Government Ware (Gov Ware) cyber conference and exhibition. Into its 25th anniversary, 85 companies that featured and exhibited multiple tracks on the latest trends in technology, organisational implementation and user perspectives, participated in the GovWare exhibition.

The theme 'Building a Secure and Resilient Digital Future Through Partnership', was chosen to reflect Singapore's desire to strengthen its digital future through robust local and international partnerships.

The opening ceremony of the SICW, held on October 10 at the Suntec Convention Centre, was attended by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong as the guest of honour, who also delivered an opening speech.

Besides attendance from ministers of Asean member countries, the SICW platform also brought together policy makers, thought leaders, technology experts, professionals and innovators in the cybersecurity industry. On the side lines, the heads of the Asean delegations also paid a joint courtesy call to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The AMCC was held on October 11 and was chaired by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, the Singapore Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Cybersecurity.

During the AMCC, the ministers discussed and exchanged views on key areas of cybersecurity priority for Mean along with the possible elements for inclusion in an Mean cybersecurity strategy.

The meeting also touched on the possibility of an Asean Cybersecurity Centre as a means for closer Asean cooperation such as the sharing of best practices and information.

The meeting also comprised an expert panel session discussing international law and cyberspace.

A key highlight during the AMCC, was the 'Cyber Green Initiative' which is a global non-profit and collaborative organisation that conducts activities focused on helping to improve the health of the global cyber ecosystem by providing reliable metric, measurement and mitigation best practices to cybersecurity incident response teams, network operators and policymakers.

The Asean delegates were also given an opportunity to visit several Singapore leading industries in cybersecurity.

The key outcome that transpired from the meeting was the firm commitment of Asean member states, in enhancing regional cooperation order to strengthen the region's cybersecurity sector
