Letter Of Pledge Backing Zahid As PM Is Fake, Says BN Comms Director

PETALING JAYA

A letter of pledge purportedly supporting Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as prime minister is fake, says Barisan Nasional Communications director Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (pic).

The pledge, allegedly signed by Shamsul Anuar, promised to give major Cabinet posts and political appointments to Umno MPs, as well as dropping court charges involving top party leaders.

Shamsul Anuar clarified on Facebook on Wednesday (Nov 2) that no such letter of pledge had been undertaken.

“This is clearly a malicious attempt by irresponsible parties, and it is clearly a plan to discredit Umno and BN during this GE15 (15th General Election) season.

“I request Malaysians who received this fake pledge not to be influenced by it,” he wrote in a Facebook post that included images of the document.

Yesterday, a post went viral on social media depicting a pledge made by Shamsul Anuar in which he promised, among other things, to support Ahmad Zahid as prime minister.
