'Operasi Bersepadu Bersih'

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

​Several 'Operasi Bersepadu Bersih' were conducted by the Law Enforcement Division, Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department in collaboration with the Land Transport Department from August to September this year.

 

On 25th August 2022, a $1,500 compound was issued to two companies and an individual for abandoning vehicles at public areas. 6 vehicles were towed from Berakas and Gadong areas to the scrap yard.

 

On 29th August, compound fines amounting to $900 were imposed to 7 individuals for rubbish dumping and disposing cigarette butts at business premises in Gadong.

 

Meanwhile, compound fines of $500 were issued to 5 individuals for disposing cigarette butts and ash around the capital. The individuals were given 7 days to settle the fine or the case will be brought to court. If found guilty, a fine of not less than $3,000 and not exceeding $5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or both will be imposed for the first offence. For the second and subsequent offences, a fine of not less than $10,000 and not exceeding $30,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both will be imposed.

 

Meanwhile, the Royal Customs and Excise Department found that 6 individuals violated the Excise Order 2006 for possessing contraband such as cigarettes and vape.
