Sixteen of the country's junior teams discovered their group opponents following the conclusion of the NFABD Elite Youth Cup 2016 draw which was held at the NFABD House.
The Elite Youth Cup is contested by 10 teams who competed in the Under-16 Youth League and six selected non-league teams.
The cup tournament will be contested in a round robin format for the 1st and 2nd round. Each team will play a minimum of three games while the maximum will be eight for the teams who reach the final.
Those teams who advance to the second round would have played six games including three from the first and second rounds.
Tabuan B, Kilanas FC Junior, non-league outfit PLBMB and Perda FC make Group A while PIP, Besa FC, Tabuan 03 (Under-13 national team) and MSN United FC complete Group B.
Tabuan A, Rimba Star, Najip I Team and Parma Junior FT will be in Group C while Group D include Kasuka FC, Al Idrus Junior, Tabuan 04 (Under-12 national team) and BTC Redstar.
Each team has been seeded into one of the four coloured pots meaning those categorised in the same pot would avoid meeting each other in the first round.
The first four matches will be played on October 7 between Tabuan B and Kilanas FC Junior at NFABD Artificial Pitch, PLBMB and Perda FC at Menglait Sports Complex, PIP and Besa FC at the Berakas Sports Complex and Tabuan 03 and MSN United FC at the Track & Field Sports Complex.
There will also be an all-star game between the Under-16 All Stars and Brunei Darussalam Under-17 national team before the final which will be coached by a top four ranked coach.
Shall their teams make it to the final; then the services of the coaches will not be needed to manage the all-stars team because of their commitments preparing for the final.
The coach from either team who do not reach the final is likely to take charge for the all-stars in a one-off match.
Md Radzuan Haji Madali, NFABD Football Development Project, said the tournament will provide an opportunity for coaches to implement knowledge on the national level while encouraging referees and match officials to promote sportsmanship.
