His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam sent a message of congratulations to Xi Jingping, President ofthe People's Republic of China on the occasion of the 25th anniversary on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China.

In the message, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction to see the relations between the two countries have deepened and strengthened as a result of Xi Jingping's personal commitment and the warm friendship between the people of both countries.

The elevation of this ties to a Strategic Cooperative Relationship was a significant milestone, based upon the longstanding trust and common aspirations of a prosperous future for Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China.

His Majesty further stated, the many activities that have taken place to commemorate the anniversary have further enhanced the close rapport and understanding between the people of both countries.

His Majesty is confident that the cooperation in the wide range of areas as well as the initiatives under the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor will continue to promote and deepen the relationship of Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China for the mutualbenefit and prosperity of the people of both countries for many years to come.

His Majesty valued the friendship shared with Xi Jingping which dates back to when he was the Governor of Fujian and expressed his appreciation to Xi Jingping for the kind hospitality accorded to His Majesty, members of the royal family and officials whenever they have the pleasure of visiting China.

In ending his message, His Majesty looked forward to continue working with Xi Jingping in ensuring good progress in the Brunei-China relationship, both bilaterally and as regional partners in Asean and APEC.

His Majesty also extends his kind regards and best wishes to Xi Jingping.

Meanwhile, Xi Jingping, President of the People's Republic of China also sent a message of congratulations to His Majesty.

In his message, Xi Jingping sent his warmest congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the People's Republic of China to His Majesty as well as the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam.

Xi Jingping further stated that the friendship between China and Brunei goes back to ancient times.

 In the past 25 years, the bilateral relations of both countries have been enjoying healthy and rapid growth.

While deepening mutual trust and expanding cooperation in various fields, both countries have also maintained close coordination in regional and international affairs. By respecting each other and treating each other as equals, China and Brunei have set a model of small and big nations treating each other on an equal footing and achieving win-win results. This year the two sides have held a variety of celebrations, which enhanced the understanding and friendship between the people of both countries.

Xi Jingping values the importance of the China-Brunei relationship and is ready to work with Brunei Darussalani to carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and continue to enrich the China-Brunei strategic cooperative relationship, so as to bring more benefits to the people of both countries and contribute further to peace and development in the region.

In ending his message, Xi Jingping wished His Majesty good health and hoped that the friendship between the two countries continue to strengthen and flourish.
