CALIFORNIA, USA

Two men charged with murdering a couple attended ‘furry’ events with the victims and their teenage daughter.

Joshua Acosta, 21, and Frank Felix, 25, have been charged in connection with the deaths of Christopher Yost and Jennifer Goodwill Yost in Orange County, California.

According to friends, the two men were friends with the couple’s 17-year-old daughter Katlynn Goodwill Yost.

All five people have been involved in the furry community, where people dress up in colourful animal costumes.

Melinda Giles said she became friends with Jennifer after meeting her and Katlynn at a furry gathering, and also said she saw Acosta and Felix at furry events.

Police investigating the double death have also arrested a 17-year-old girl.

Officers previously said they were concerned for Katlynn’s safety, but later found her unharmed.

Social media pages show she was an active member of the furry community, where she was known as ‘Daydreamer’, and pictures show her wearing a wolf costume.

Stacy Businger, Chris’ cousin, said: ‘The furries? That was a new thing they kind of got into.

‘He was a really kind person. He would do anything for anyone. Literally he would give the shirt off his back to a perfect stranger if he needed it.’

Furry Ray Arechiga said Jennifer Yost, her daughter and Felix were furries.

He said: ‘She (Jennifer) really is a loveable member of the community.

Acosta and Felix have both been charged with three counts of murder.

Acosta also faces possible sentencing enhancements for personal discharge of a firearm causing death, the Orange County district attorney’s office said.
