DPMM FC Make Life Difficult in Young Lions Win

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

DPMM FC survived a major scare after letting Garena Young Lions with a real chance of staging an unlikely comeback having been 4-0 down before eventually winning 5-3 in a dramatic eight-goal thriller in the S League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.

Brazilian striker Rafael Ramazotti ultimately scored DPMM FC's fifth goal of the night to lift the pressure as the Gegar Gegar men move within two points of second-placed Tampines Rovers FC, their next opponents on Saturday.

It had all gone rosy in the first half after Brian McLean planted a firm header from a Hendra Azam's free-kick in the third minute which was made possible after a Young Lions player was penalised for a foul on Abd Mu'iz Sisa who made his first start of the season.

Azwan Salleh delivered a pinpoint cross which Ramazotti connected with-a looping header to double the lead for the hosts.

DPMM FC scored three goals in a space of ten minutes after Ramazotti nodded home a hoisted ball by defender Brian McLean.

Azwan Salleh was the main architect behind a locally-inspired attacking force supplying a delicious ball which was collected by Shahrazen Said who easily skipped his marker before teeing off Maududi Hilmi Kasmi who tidily finished from close range.

McLean won an aerial battle on the box which Maududi collected the loose ball before firing a fine volley but Young Lions custodian Fashah Iskandar was equal to the task steering the ball wide for a corner.

However, the Gegar Gegar men allowed Ryan Syaffiq to roam free who went for placing in the top corner forcing goalkeeper Wardun Yussof into action tipping the ball to safety.

Then, Young Lions pulled one back seconds after the restart through a decent Shafeeq Faruk strike.

The goal revitalised the visitors and seven minutes later, Singapore international Khairul Amri volleyed home a fine cross to make it 4-2.

Amri handed his side a lifeline after firing past Wardun for a second time in the hour mark much to the bewilderment of the home crowd.

The visitors came close with the leveller but fortunately a couple of Young Lions players could not get an end to a cross.
