Speaking while launching a weeklong youth development camp at the Information Department building in Old Airport Road yesterday, Mawardi told the camp's participants that they are seen as progressive and exemplary by their peers and urged them to work hand-in-hand to help the country realise the Brunei Vision 2035 that envisages an educated, highly-skilled people with high-standard of living, as well as a dynamic and resilient economy.

Some 16 post-graduates are taking part in the 'Civic Village Programme', which also sees the inclusion of post-graduates from local higher education institutions for the first time this year, apart from those from overseas institutions.

The acting director explained that the programme will feature briefings and dialogue sessions that will cover a variety of aspects such as religion, patriotism, the community, security, culture and also entrepreneurship that will be facilitated by speakers from public and private organisations.

Participants comprise of job-seekers, those new to the programme and those passionate in self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship.

"With this programme, the participants will have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and skills and add to their experience, enabling them to overcome complex issues including economic, social and political challenges," Mawardi said.

The programme hosted annually by the Information Department, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is being held at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex and sees the participation of post-graduates from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) as well as Bruneian post-graduates from universities in United Kingdom, Australia and Malaysia.

Apart from the briefing and dialogue sessions, the participants will also take part in field trips to places such

According to the Information Department, the programme aims to give better understanding and updates on state and government matters, while also promoting the spirit of patriotism in line with the country's philosophy, Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).

"It will also give the participants the opportunity to discuss and understand current needs for the country's progress in various areas while also helping them explore business opportunities, to help them move away the mindset of being too particular and dependent on looking for a government job," added the press release.
