DPMM FC's New Addition Set to Start Against Young Lions

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

DPMM FC new addition Abd Mu'iz Sisa looks set to be handed his first start of the season in the S League home tie against struggling Garen Young Lions at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium tonight.

Abd Mu'iz became the latest player to have made the transition from the domestic national league to the more competitive S League after filling in the vacancy left by Sairol Sahari who was out of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

However, Portuguese import Paulo Sergio will be out of the clash after picking up an injury in the Home United game on Friday.

DPMM FC will be making three changes with the trio of Maududi Hilmi Kasmi, Shahrazen Said and Abd Mu'iz Sisa replacing Paulo Sergio, Azwan Ali and Najib Tarif

"He's (Sergio) not going to be fit".

His pelvis is out of alignment so hopefully he'll get treatment at the stadium and will be okay within the next three or four days," said head coach Steve Kean in an interview with the media after a training session at the Jerudong Mini Stadium yesterday.

Kean is confident that Sergio could be available for selection in time for the Tampines Rovers FC away game at the Jurong West Stadium on October 1.

"It just came up too quick. Maybe if he had another 48 hours it would be okay but it's pointless risking him feels when he doesn't feel uncomfortable even walking never mind running and striking a ball," the head coach added.

Sergio's absence will open opportunities for others to try and make an impact which the team has been boosted with Shahrazen Said and Maududi Hilmi Kasmi's excellent displays as substitutes.

The duo's contributions during the Home United game have convinced Kean to be given starts in the Young Lions game.

Kean also hinted that DPMM FC's pair of Azwan Ali and Najib Tarif will be rested due to fatigue.

"Juan (Azwan Ali) is not fit and he is very tired. You can see that probably near the end of the game and Najib is very tired so I'm going to rest Najib.

"Mu'iz is going to have his first start as well. So there would be three changes," he added.

DPMM FC head coach Steve Kean is determined to build on their seven-game unbeaten run in the S League.

"Hopefully we can continue our goodrun and give the fans more to cheer about. I thought the other night in the first half especially we were exceptional even though we had one goal, we probably deserved to go four up."

The former Blackburn Rovers manager is aware the open football that the Young Lions pride on and will treats the development side just like any other top guns in the S League including Albirex Niigata (S) and Tampines Rovers.

"They don't really care. They just come and play open football. If they're losing they don't really get depressed. They just keep playing.

"It's a stranger opposition because as a developmental team each player is just trying to show they're developing. It's not really about results or scores for them.

"It's about are they getting better as individuals to progress in the next level so that's always dangerous".

"We never disrespect teams. We always do tactical work on how they play like we did today. Hopefully, if we play to the maximum, we will be too strong," he concluded.
