Reviewing opportunities for collaboration and strategic cooperation in the field of education, particularly Islamic studies, was among the highlights of a visit for Dr Bahaudden Muhammed Nadwi, the Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University (DHIU) in Kerala, India.

He visited Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) yesterday after attending the International Seminar on Islam in the Malay World VI.

He was welcomed by Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal and UNISSA executive officers.

According to the vice chancellor, DHIU provides a combination of academic education and knowledge on modern Islam. With a system of rigorous, ongoing training and good masters in place, it hopes to allow for better understanding of Islamic culture and civilisation.

DHIU is committed to educating and producing expertise, professional skills, intellectual, knowledge-based Islamic tradition and verse to the modern critical ideas and current culture that shape human understanding of the world.

According to him, UNISSA has the attraction and a platform for the advancement of academic excellence, research and publication on Islam.

The meeting allowed for productive dialogue among academics on the issues in the Islamic world.

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), it sealed cooperation between UNISSA with DHIU. In addition, the signing is recognition that UNISSA is comparable with international Islamic universities that have been established earlier.
