More than 1,500 educators, students and officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday attended a thanksgiving ceremony in conjunction with the upcoming 26th Teacher's Day celebration.

The religious ceremony took place at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital. Present at the ceremony yesterday were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education; and  Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.

Also present were Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Education; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries as well as heads of departments from both ministries.

The ceremony began with a mass Asar prayer led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamidon bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Hamid.
It then continued with a mass recitation of Ratib AlAttas led by Mudim Haji Ahmad Kasra bin Haji Ibrahim, Omar `Ali Saifuddien Mosque Officer.

The Thanksgiving prayer was later recited by Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque Superintendent.

The ceremony was part of the religious activities held in conjunction with the annual Teacher's Day celebration organised by both ministries.

The main event for the 26'h Teacher's Day celebration this year will be held on September 29, 2016 at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas with the theme 'Guru Bijaksana Pembina Generasi Berwawasan' (A wise teacher builds a generation with a vision).
