The ASEAN-China Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation highlighted the exchange of views on the importance of innovation in science and technology. The meeting, which coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the ASEAN-People's Republic of China relations, was chaired by His Excellency Doctor Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Thailand and His Excellency Mr. Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology, People's s Republic of China.

 

The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications in his speech during the sharing session expressed appreciation and support for the activities proposed in the Action Plan, especially the Talented Young Scientist Exchange Programme, TYSP, the ASEAN Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Tour to China and also training workshops for ASEAN countries. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mohammad Yusof also emphasised that as the next step, it is important that all the activities proposed in the Action Plan are to be jointly implemented. Yang Berhormat also shared on the establishment of the Council for Research and Advancement in Technology and Science, creates which serves to support the development and growth of Science, Technology and Innovation activities in Brunei Darussalam.

 

The meeting also discussed on future opportunities to enhance cooperation in the field of science and technology to achieve mutual benefits.
