Rejang Park Kindy Children Show Their Love For Malaysia

SIBU

Rejang Park Kindergarten pupils paraded round the housing area yesterday to show their love for the country.

Of the total 180 pupils, about 100 rode on colourfully decorated bicycles.

Headmistress Yii Tiew Yieng said parents worked hard to ensure that the event would be a success.

“The response has been very good; the parents are taking part actively in this event and they’ve put a lot of effort into decorating the bicycles,” she said.

This is the 10th year the kindergarten has held a National Day celebration.

“We are so blessed this year that there is sunshine, so we are able to go out to the neighbourhood for the first time,” she said.

Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee praised the kindergarten for holding the event.

“It’s a meaningful event. It teaches the children about patriotism,” he said.

“The kindergarten has given the children an opportunity to move beyond the school compound and ‘learn by doing’.”

He also called on non-governmental organisations to celebrate National Day.

“Irrespective of ethnic and religious background, we are all Malaysians in front of the Jalur Gemilang and singing ‘Negaraku’,” he said.

He also called on the people to remember Malaysia Day.
