The Magistrate's Court handed down a B$1,000 fine, or a month of imprisonment in default, to a local man yesterday after he pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Muhammad Norazmi bin Sungkai was arrested by officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) during a raid of his house in Kampong Bebuloh, Jalan Wasan Limau Manis at 5.20am on April 26, 2014.

No drug-related items were found on his body, but he produced a utensil with traces of methamphetamine (syabu) on it, before the officers could conduct a further search of the premises.

Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin presided over the case.
