Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has called on all Lao multi-ethnic people nationwide, particularly those living in Vientiane Capital, to be good hosts for the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and related summits which are scheduled for September 6-8.

Prime Minister Thongloun made the statement at a press conference in Vientiane yesterday.

In his message, Mr Thongloun called on all Lao multi-ethnic people to welcome government and state leaders, delegations and all guests who will be attending the summits with good hospitality, friendship and the unique traditions of Laos.

Leaders from the 10 ASEAN Member States are expected to attend the summits and pay official goodwill visits to the Lao PDR, while leaders from countries that are members of the East Asia Summit (EAS) are also expected to attend the EAS.

During the three-days of summits (Sep 6-8), Prime Minister Thongloun as the Chair of the Lao ASEAN Chairmanship this year, will host and Chair at least 11 summits.

PM Thongloung said that participants of the 28th ASEAN Summit will discuss ASEAN Community building efforts, especially the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the way forward.

Meanwhile, participants of the 29th ASEAN Summit will focus their discussions on ASEAN’s external relations and future directions as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest and concern.

In addition, the ASEAN summits with dialogue partners will review the cooperation over the past years, discuss future directions, and exchange views on regional and international issues.
