Singapore's Defence Minister to Visit Brunei Tomorrow

Singapore's Defence Minister, Dr Ng Eng Hen, will visit Brunei Darussalam on Monday (August 29) to commemorate 40 years of defence relations between the two countries.
According to Channel NewsAsia, Dr Ng will meet His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), and other ministers during the two-day trip.
In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said the programme will include Dr Ng witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on defence technology cooperation between the two countries.
Dr Ng will also visit 'Exercise Pelican', a bilateral naval exercise being conducted for the 351h time by the Republic of Singapore Navy as well as the Royal Brunei Navy.
Singapore and Brunei have maintained close defence relations since 1976, and the Ministry of Defence said its armed forces regularly interact through bilateral exercises, visits and professional exchanges.
