Tokyo Shares Open Lower As U.S. Shares Retreat On Cheap Oil Prices

TOKYO
Tokyo shares opened lower on Thursday as U.S. shares retreated on sluggish oil prices.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 36.25 points, or 0.22 percent, from Wednesday to 16,561.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 2.19 points, or 0.17 percent, to 1,304. 52.
Decliners were led by nonferrous metal, oil and coal product, and mining issues.
