A local serial thief was jailed for two years yesterday after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to six counts of theft.
On May 6 2016, Mat Sukarin bin Mohamad, with the aid from two others, stole a motorcycle parked at Jerudong Atiya Complex by loading it into their vehicle. The defendant sold the motorcycle for $100 in Kampong Setia.
On May 10 2016, the defendant stole another motorcycle after starting its engine using a key he had brought along. The defendant sold the motorcycle for $200 in neighbouring Limbang.
On May 18, 2016, the defendant, with the aid of another person, stole another motorcycle in Kampong Berangan by starting its engine using a key he had brought along. The defendant sold the motorcycle for $200 in neighbouring Limbang.
On May 19, 2016, the defendant stole a car from the parking lot at Tamu Kianggeh by starting its engine using a key he brought along. The defendant damaged the car roof and windshield as he was angry that the vehicle had problems. He left the vehicle at the parking lot at a school.
On May 28, 2016, the defendant cut the chain and lock to a motorcycle parked in the basement of a shopping complex and brought it to Tamu Kianggeh where he started its engine using a key he had brought along. The defendant sold the motorcycle for $200 in Limbang, Sarawak.
On June 26, 2016, the defendant stole a car from a parking lot on Jalan Pemancha by using a key he had brought along and drove it away only to leave it by the roadside later.
Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman heard from DPP Danial Kifrawi that the defendant is a first offender and the police recovered all of the stolen vehicles.
