An Indonesian man was brought to court for possession of 18 cartons and 158 packs of cigarettes of various brands.
Daris Susanto was fined $25,000 or 13 months imprisonment in default. The offence was committed during an inspection conducted by the Law Enforcement Division of the Royal Customs and Excise Department on the 16th of July.
Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi was charged with an offence Under Section 15 1, Immigration Act Chapter 17 for overstaying in the country after his work pass had expired for 164 days. He was sentenced to four months imprisonment and three strokes of whipping. The defendant was also an employee who reportedly had run away from his employer.
