KOTA KINABALU, SABAH

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman yesterday expressed his condolences to the families of the victims who perished in the boat accident at the estuary of Kampung Rampayan Laut, Kota Belud on Sunday.

“This is indeed tragic. I offer my deepest condolences to the families and hope they remain strong during this difficult time,” he said in a statement.

Musa hoped that the relevant authorities would mount a full investigation into the cause of the tragic incident.

“I also hope that precautionary measures are strictly adhered to when going out to sea and the first-line emergency responders are ever ready to deal with such accidents,” he added.

In the 3.35pm incident, two educators drowned when the boat they were traveling in with eight others from Kampung Rampayan Laut to Pulau Mantanani capsized.

The deceased were the headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Mantanani, Limun Gamburud and teacher, Kamariah Hamdan.
