GUANGZHOU

China's Guangdong Province reported no new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the provincial health commission said Friday.

No new local asymptomatic carriers were reported either on Thursday, according to the health commission. The province has reported no new local COVID-19 cases for three consecutive days.

Guangdong on Thursday reported six imported confirmed cases.

By Thursday, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,723 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,157 imported ones. Currently, 189 patients are being treated in hospitals, said the health commission.

Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong, on Thursday resumed the outbound movement of traffic from the area where the resurgence of COVID-19 was reported in May.

Personnel and vehicles are now allowed to leave the Fangcun block of Liwan District, according to the city's headquarters for COVID-19 prevention and control.

The area was locked down on May 29 after reporting a cluster of locally transmitted COVID-19 cases.
