The Intermediate Court yesterday sentenced a local man to jail for eight years with six strokes after he pleaded guilty to 10 charges of housebreaking.

Awang Haji Maswadi bin Pungut/Ismail struck at homes and shops around Lambak, Gadong, Subok, Jalan Muara and Batu Satu where he stole belongings such as jewellery and gadgets as well as more personal items.

Judge Pengiran Hajah Hanani binti Pengiran Haji Metussain heard from DPP Vuina Song that the defendant committed the offences during the wee hours and some even in broad daylight over four months in October, November, December 2015 and January 2016.
