Sentencing has been fixed today for three Thai nationals who pleaded guilty yesterday in the Intermediate Court to serious charges of sexual exploitation of a 17-year-old country-fellow under the Trafficking and Smuggling of Persons Order.

A woman and two men, whose anonymity is kept to protect the young Thai girl's identity, pleaded guilty before Intermediate Court Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli to five charges of exploiting the girl, living on part earnings of prostitution, exploitation of a trafficked person, letting to hire the girl for prostitution and exploiting her by transporting her to provide sexual services.

A single charge of sexual exploitation of the girl carries a penalty of a maximum BND$1,000,000 fine, 30 years jail and minimum of five strokes whipping.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Karen Tan and Vuina Song are conducting the prosecution of the case.
