The local Filipino basketball community lost one of its beloved coaches Raul Dimaano on Monday.
Players and coaches were shocked at the sudden passing of Raul Dimaano, who touched many hearts with his kindness and humour.
Raul Dimaano has been in the local basketball scene for a long time and has helped guide numerous teams to lift championships in local tournaments.
According to an official from the Philippines Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, Raul Dimaano's body is expected to be flown back to the Philippines on Sunday. An open casket wake for the local community to pay their last respects to the late coach will be held at the Mortuary of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital at 3pm on Sunday.
Wira Pori, team manager of Easyway Basketball Club, in his condolence message stated, "On behalf of Easyway Basketball Club, I offer my sincere condolences to Raul's family in this time of mourning. Words can never fully express our collective sadness. It was an honour to have known and won championships with him."
"He was a good basketball coach and a better man who never failed to make those around him happy. Though we may only know him for a short while, Raul was, and will always be a member of the Easyway family. Thank you for all your assistance, guidance, and great memories. Take care and goodbye, Coach Raul," he added.
