Both the Brunei Darussalam Men and Ladies Masters Softball Team won medals at the Masters Softball 2016 at the Pintu Satu Softball Pitch of Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Brunei Ladies Masters won bronze medal in the league of the home away matches of the 2nd Ladies Masters Softball Championship 2016, with Kobra Indonesia winning gold and Nice Thailand taking silver.

The Brunei Men's Masters Softball team also grabbed bronze for the second time after defeating Singapore in the bronze medal match with a Run-Ahead Ruling of 9-2. First place was won by Kobra Indonesia and Nice Thailand won silver in the fourth edition of the championship.

Lela, the Brunei Men's Masters team manager said they were very happy with their achievement.

"Alhamdulillah, our athletes did their best, but luck was not on our side when we were playing against Thailand. The first match was not that satisfying. But our scores improved compared to last year," she said.’

The Brunei Masters Ladies team manager, Dayangku Rohhayati binti Pengiran Haji Hassan said, "Alhamdulillah, we are grateful. The players have showed their enthusiasm and have put in so much into the game. Even with lack of training and facilities, the ladies have improved their game compared to last year."

Meanwhile on a separate occasion, the Brunei Gunners Softball Team yesterday departed to Australia to participate in the Softball Queensland Masters Tournament from August 5-7.

Six teams will be vying for the title in the tournament. The other five teams are PK Pride, Scorpions, Bruins, Brothers and Brisbane Giants.

Brunei Gunners is led by Hakeem as team manager and Abello as coach. The team will face Brisbane Giants in their first match.
