China is powering ahead in bringing business and life back on track, with regular COVID-19 control measures in place. The following are the latest facts and figures for the past week:

-- Over 4,800 people were sworn in as volunteers and started going about their duties on Oct. 18 for the upcoming third China International Import Expo.

Most volunteers are students from universities in Shanghai, and more than half of them were born after 2000.

-- The 2020 World Young Scientist Summit opened on Oct. 18 in the city of Wenzhou in east China's Zhejiang Province.

The summit, the second since its inauguration last year, was themed "converging the world's talents, creating a better future."

-- A grain trade conference began on Oct. 19 in east China's Fujian Province.

The third China Grain Trade Conference drew delegations from 31 provinces, municipalities and regions, and over 2,000 grain-focused enterprises, as well as experts, to the city of Fuzhou, the provincial capital.

-- The 2020 World Conference on VR (virtual reality) Industry kicked off on Oct. 19 in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province.

Themed "new opportunities, new prospects," this year's conference focused on the key and common problems in VR industry development, discussed industry trends and solutions and illustrated the latest achievements in the field.

-- The 2020 Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum kicked off in Beijing on Oct. 21.

The three-day event included four parallel forums in which participants exchanged ideas on financial cooperation and reform, financial services and development, the opening-up of the financial sector and market, and financial technology and innovation.

-- Central China's Henan Province has built 36,000 5G base stations, covering all its urban areas above the county level.

The populous province plans to increase the number of 5G users to 14 million with a total of 40,000 base stations by the end of the year.
