TAWAU

Police here seized 3,164 grams of syabu with street value of RM450,000 from a 19-year-old jobless female Sabahan with a postal address in Tawau, at the departure hall of Tawau Airport at about 11am on July 28.

District police chief ACP Fadil Bin Hj Marsus said police detained the suspect once she arrived at Tawau Airport from Kuala Lumpur.

Fadil said she was carrying a black sling bag with her right hand while her left hand carried a pink bag with white stripes, and also a pink paper bag with white stripes.

On inspection of her checked ‘Puma’ black bag, the police found six cans with the words written ’36 Percent’ on them, where each can contained one blue plastic bag wrapped with white paper.

The syabu was placed together with the canned food. Six cans were fully sealed.

“We also seized 23 packets of snack food of various brands and a set of children toys from the check-in bag. The personal documents of the suspect were also seized.

“The suspect was tested negative during an urine screening and she would be remained for seven days starting from July 29 for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” Fadil said.

He believed many more were involved in drugs using flights to smuggle drugs to Tawau. He therefore hoped the public could provide tip-offs to the police on such activities.
