TEMBURONG

Fourteen IBTE Mechanical Campus students pursuing the Heavy Machinery Course at the Youth Development Centre have successfully recently completed a six-day course at the Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD) in Temburong.

Held as one of the activities as part of the course programme, the course aims to improve among participants the quality of leadership, teamwork, camaraderie, self-confidence, discipline, moral values and understanding of the role and responsibilities of competent and progressive people towards national development.

According to the head of the group, during the OBBD course, participants were trained to explore their strengths through various activities.

The results are evident in that they are more independent and can identify weaknesses and strengths as a basic guide towards a better future.

The closing ceremony was attended by Awang Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Awang Haji Yusly, Chairman of Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam.

The OBBD is the only self-development centre recognised by Outward Bound International available in Brunei.

It is education-oriented towards helping all levels of society, especially the youths, in building and strengthening their values and leadership by using 'learning through experience' and 'excursion training' in a foreign environment, making it even more challenging.

The courses available at Outward Bound Brunei  Darussalam also emphasise on the aspects of youth identity, which includes physical and mental endurance, speed of thinking, fostering relationships, self-reliance, self-discipline towards helping the nation produce youths who are big-hearted, independent, patriotic and useful to the religion, race and nation towards achieving the Brunei Vision 2035.

The activities included kayaking, abseiling, flying fox, solo night, team building, rock climbing and jungle trekking.
