CHMS Alumni Association to Host Inaugural Charity Run on September 25

The Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) Alumni Association will organise the CHMS Alumni Association Charity Run for the first time, to be held on September 25. More than 3,000 participants from local and abroad are expected to participate at the charity run. The race's starting and ending points will be at the open parking area of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
According to the Chairman of the CHMS Alumni Association, Tan Guan Siong at a press conference held yesterday, all the related preparations are ready. The purpose of the event is to strengthen the relations with all ex-students of CHMS. The general public is also invited to promote awareness on running for health and charity.
In conjunction with the charity event, the organisers are anticipating to do fund raising for charity and educational organisations. He also added that any company or members of the general public who would want to donate can do so by contacting them at 245-5738, 714-1198, 871-7748 or fax at 245-5805.
There will be a total of five categories in the run, namely the 3km fun run (men and women), 5.5km (for boys and girls under 18); 5.5km (for men and women 50 years old and above), 5.5km (for boys and girls age 14 years old and above) and 10.5km fun run for men and women.
The winners of the 10.5km fun run will each receive B$700 for first place, B$500 for second place and B$300 for third place along with seven consolation prizes of B$100 each. In the 5.5km for 14 years old and above, winners will receive B$500, B$300 and B$100 respectively and seven consolation prize winners of B$50 each. In the 5.5km for 50 years old and above, winners will each receive B$400 for first place, B$300 for second place and $200 for third place and seven consolation prizes of B$50 each.
In the 5.5km run for under 18 winners will receive B$300, B$200 and B$100 and seven consolation prize winners of B$50. All runners who complete the route within qualifying time will receive finishing medals.
Registration forms and payment are now available at the CHMS Alumni Association at their office at 1st Floor SAK Complex, Spg 103, Jln Gadong, as well as on the following locations: Aewon Kiarong and Aewon Seria, Cityneon Brunei, CHMS, BSB (Admin office), Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam's (Pusat Ehsan) office, SMARTER office and KACA. Complete entry forms must be submitted no later than August 31.
There will also be a lucky draw during the event. On behalf of the 2015-2017 management committee, Tan Guan Siong extended his gratitude to Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab and Raja Segaran of Pusat Ehsan as the official event advisors. He also extended his gratitude to the event's generous sponsors: Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, Kingston Beverage & Creamery Sdn Bhd, TLT, Cityneon, Fitness Zone and Aewon. The event is also supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
