Myanmar: Brunei Darussalam's sepak takraw team sealed their passage in the semi-final of the Men Team Double event and would be guaranteed a podium finish at least bronze at the 27th Myanmar Southeast (SEA) Games at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium B yesterday.
Brunei Darussalam completed Group A in top spot after winning both of their matches against Singapore and Cambodia, finishing strongly to confirm their spot in the last- four.
Brunei will head into the last four of the competition in fine form holding a perfect record thus far after winning 3-0 against Cambodia yesterday
The first pair won two sets 21-15, 21-18 and the second pair easily dispatched their opponents 21-7, 21-11 to go through with a potential encounter against either Indonesia or Myanmar.
Brunei added a third set in their finest sporting performance in a group this entire SEA Games campaign and moved a step closer towards winning the gold medal. Brunei had claimed bronze in the hoop takraw event earlier in the competition.
The third athletics competitor for Brunei Darussalam in this year's SEA Games, Abdul Haqim Haji Yahya, managed to equal his personal best of 2.00m but finished in eh place in the Men's High Jump event yesterday.
Meanwhile, the cycling team comprising Reduan Yusop, Ahmad Rifa'ie Haji Johor and Muhammad I'maadi Abd Aziz finished last in 8th place in the Men's Road Race 163km Team.
Muhammad I'maadi Abd Aziz became the only national competitor to complete the Men's Road Race 163km Individual final in 39th place. Azmi Abd Hadzid and Muhammad Rafiuddin Zikara did not finish in the Men's Road Race 163km Individual final.
