Bandar Seri Begawan: Since the introduction of Bru-HIMS, less than 200,000 people have registered with the national Healthcare Information and Management System. Last Saturday during a press conference, it was revealed that a total of 172,135 people in the country have registered and from the total figure, only 78,754 registrations are from the Brunei-Muara District, the most populated district in the country.
With a majority of the population having yet to register, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Health on Wednesday had called on individuals who have yet to register to come forward to register for the convenience of seeking treatment not only in hospitals but also at healthcare centres nationwide.
The minister said on the sidelines of the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Fitness Zone and the Ministry of Health, "We are trying to encourage everyone to register for Bru-HIMS. Once registered, there is no need to register again. We would like to urge the public to register through various means."
RIPAS Hospital has progressed into the final stage of the implementation of BruHIMS with the Outpatients Section of the hospital whereby starting from August 26 five specialist clinics will require patients who are in the Bru-HIMS system to register for doctor appointments to reduce waiting time.
Registration, the minister said, "Can be done in three ways, which are by filling in the form at the registration counter of government hospitals with the Identity Card or copy of the Identity Card. Family members can also register on behalf of their loved ones.
"The Bru-HIMS forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Health website at www.moh.gov.bn and return the forms as well as provide a copy of Identity Card to the counters in the hospitals and healthcare centres. While another means of registration is through Bru-HIMS mobile application for android and apple users. Bru-HIMS can be found and downloaded in the Google Play store and Apple store.
"Once registered, the patients can visit any healthcare centres and hospitals nationwide and the medical record will be accessible through the database. The system is interlinked with all hospitals and healthcare centres which will serve as a convenience and will benefit for the patients as well as the ministry."
The minister also vowed to resolve any problems that may arise as Bru-HIMS is a new system that would take some time to get adapted to.
