Bandar Seri Begawan: Some one thousand three hundred and sixty participants, including two hundred and seventy five international participants from China and Malaysia, will be taking part in the annual event at Dermaga Diraja (Royal Wharf) in the Sultanate’s capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on March 2 at 8am.
The categories are Traditional Boat Race, Water Taxi Race, Speed Boat Race and Jet Ski.
This year’s edition will see a new category, the Private Sector Traditional Race, wich will be participated by BIBD, DST, TAIB, RB, Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, TOTAL and Takaful Brunei Darussalam.
A reception ceremony will be hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Primary at Dermaga Diraja on March 1 at 4pm.
Preparations such as race training and rehearsals for members of diplomatic corps and Cabinet Ministers were carried out throughout the week while the administration, coordination and welfare have been taken care of by the event secretariat.
Site preparations such as a grandstand renovation and the set up of audience tents are nearing completion.
RTB was also seen setting up equipment for the event’s broadcast. According to Hj Sueb Rizal Hj Abd Malek, Regatta Brunei Darussalam Secretariat Secretary, there would be a ‘Regatta Legacy’ exhibition at the Dermaga Diraja Art Gallery, organized by Museums Department.
Meanwhile, the ‘One Village, One Product’ exhibition will be held at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
He added that the roads closed on the day would be Jln Sultan, Jln McArthur, Jln Pemancha and Jln Kianggeh.
