Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: In conjunction with the launch of the 1Malaysia Year End Sale (1MYES), Tourism Malaysia has invited a total of 221 international travel agents and media representatives from 23 countries to Malaysia under its Mega Familiarisation Programme (Mega FAM).
The Mega FAM participants are from Brunei, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesa, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
The Brunei delegation comprises 10 participants who are taking part in the Mega FAM 2013. They include eight paticipants representing the country's various travel agents, one participant from Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) and one from the media.
A section of the international delegates attended the KL Fashion Weekend 2013 at the Esplanade KLCC, a four-day fashion extravaganza organised by both British and Malaysian retailers, while the other international delegates had their itinerary arranged for similar exciting activities and tours.
The KL Fashion Weekend aims to provide consumers with a first-hand look at the latest hair, make-up and fashion trends from the industry's ever changing seasonal collections.
Prior to the launching yesterday afternoon, the Mega FAM participants attended a business tourism seminar which started off with a welcoming speech by the Director of Communication and Publicity Division. It was held at The Prince Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur in the morning as part of the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2014 promotion and awareness campaign.
During the seminar, the participants were briefed on the latest tourism developments in Malaysia by Dato' Abdul Khani Daud from Tourism Malaysia; Noraza Yusof from Kuala Lumpur City Hall; and Yeow Wei Wen from Express Rail Link (ERL) Sdn Bhd.
After the seminar, the Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Dato' Hj Azizan Noordin hosted a welcoming lunch for the Mega FAM participants at the same venue, and presented certificates of participation to each participant.
While enjoying the scrumptious lunch, the participants were entertained with a cultural performance by members of Istana Budaya, showcasing the richness of Malaysia's culture and dance.
