Bandar Seri Begawan: Brunei Darussalam will mark Hari Raya Aidiladha on October 16, 2013 corresponding to 10th of Zulhijjah 1434H following the announcement that the moon was not sighted by the authorities.
The announcement marked the completion of 30 days in the month of Zulkaedah as the 1st of Zulhijjah will fall tomorrow (October 7).
As the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) waited for the outcome of the moon sighting, a religious ceremony was held where the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour.
Also present were Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran which was followed by a Tausyeh presentation. Shortly before the mass Maghrib prayer, a Doa Selamat was read.
Muslims nationwide will perform Sunnat Hari Raya Aidiladha prayer at all mosques, suraus and prayer halls on October 16 corresponding to the 10th of Zulhijjah 1434H at 7.30am.
The sacrificial rites will be performed after the Aidiladha prayer and the "Tasyriq" dates on the 11th, 12th and 13th of Zulhijjah 1434H.
