Bandar Seri Begawan: Exciting times are in store for the Abode of Peace as those from around the region and beyond join together to prepare for the upcoming 23rd Asean Summit 2013 to be held here in Brunei Darussalam.
Scheduled to take place on October 9 and 10 next month following the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leader's Meeting in Bali, the gathering of Leaders not just from Asean but also their counterparts in the Sultanate will mean thousands of delegates from all corners of the world as they move to realise goals that are envisioned to change for the better the way we live, communicate and harmonise for a brighter tomorrow.
Considering the significant task at hand to be powered by a local human resource pool that is considered small in size, those behind the scenes who have been delegated and trusted to carry out duties for the up-coming meet have been busy organising for the two-day event and their efforts, it was shared, is slated to come to fruition.
On the sidelines of the Brunei-Muara District get-together with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the capital yesterday, the monarch consented to answer questions posed by the Borneo Bulletin and expressed that Brunei is ready for this year's Asean Summit.
"We are prepared," he said with confidence as many across the, country looked forward to the role that Brunei will play as this year's Asean Chair before the torch is passed on to Myanmar on the last day of the meeting.
