"Md Ismail added that the thrill-seeking, adrenaline-pumping activity is rampant in the district and hag grown ram immensely in the country over the years".....the real question is why is the numbers keep going up??

Just cut the BS and provide proper space for these enthusiasts instead on wasting money, resources and time on crackdowns. On top of that, baseless, narrow minded accusations and reporting about motorsports being a "gejala sosial" by the local media is sickening and has to stop. It's not fair to point fingers at them just because there's no safe and legal avenue for these enthusiasts to participate in the first place.

The closest motorsport driving action that you can get your hands around here is a pathetic "kiddy cart" in JP that doesn't even equate to the whole experience.

Just imagine, with a proper facility the public will benefit from advanced/defensive driving courses and enthusiasts can participate in motorsports activities like drift, autocross, gymkhanna, drag etc in a safe and controlled environment. More frequent and well organized activities will in turn generate tourism and economic opportunities that will benefit the government and the larger public in general.

I'm pretty sure it's a realistic idea considering the average number of cars each Brunei household owns or a piece of asphalt covered land with a few bits here n there is just too much to ask for? - Avid Enthusiast

Is it dangerous? to some extend yes- it is a public road.
A nuisance ? depending where it is.
But by doing these would we solve the issue? I don't think so. These have been going on for countless years I'm sure these are young men who would prefer a proper track if available. Why would people around Brunei go to Miri or Kuching if this is not the case. Can go on further... but eh. Other country around the world police sponsors drag race on track, in the hind sight of control measures. If Brunei does have a race track, but people still street race- then hand them a heavy fine!

Dedicated race track

This isn't new. Why not make a proper race track like skid-pan or autocross and a drag strip. Imagine how much money you can make from young people just wanting to test their cars our and from advanced driving courses? end of the day, someone makes money, everyone becomes a better driver and gain new skills in a safe environment. It's not like there's no space to build one, and wat, a 1/4 mile strip + 1 km square and some cones for skidpan isn't too much to ask for considering each car pays a reasonable fee to enter? - Jim Brenner

They need a solution? Build a race track.. Why is that so hard? When it comes to doing some useless events, and trying to kiss the feet of the big shots, some are willing to fork out a nice sum of money. But when it comes to the benefit of ordinary citizens, sorry to say it never gets approved.

Come on grow up the country is moving forward. The more you enforce, the larger the crimes get. So face it, make it legal.. And both sides would be happy.. - Get Real

Instead of prosecuting the public for having this kind of illegal activity, why not build a suitable track for these enthusiast so that there is a dedicated place to carry drag race, track race etc. I'm sure people wouldn't mind paying to rent such track. Atleast this does not promote such activity on the road endangering road users.

Prosecution should be made to the supplier of the aftermarket parts. Not the consumers. Its just like drug, kill the drug supplier, the consumer is saved. Why couldn't it be the same? Think!!!!

Think about it. Its because we don't have a track, thats why it was carried out on the road. Its simple. Drag race on the streets has been ongoing for years even before i was born but still no official track has been made so i'm sure it can't be stopped for the next 20 years or more. - Enthusiasts

Good work for the police force. These racers should be heavily fine. they just want to seek thrill till one day some one die. Those who do illegal modification should be heavily fined too especially those with noisy exhaust. very annoying and noisy. it disturbing the peacefulness of our environment. Thank you police force - qt
