Kuala Lumpur: In his New Year's message, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged Malaysians to stand by him, strengthen national unity and carve a successful future for all.
In addressing the challenges ahead for 2013 and building a sustainable success, he said that Malaysians have to learn from past experiences, improve on the good and rectify all weaknesses.
"We need to proceed with the national agenda to strengthen national unity, which is the core of the nation's perpetuity," he said.
Efforts must continue to improve the well-being of the people through a sound social safety net system and increase the wealth of the nation by ensuring sustainable economic growth and fiscal health, he said.
"We have to ensure that Malaysia will be the best place to build a life; the best place to have a family and raise children, a country that has a caring society, a strong family system, neighbourhoods and streets safe from crime, a sustainable environment, quality schools and educational institutions, as well as the best and affordable health care system.
"Join me to make our dream a reality. Stand by my side for us to together determine success, move along and work with me to carve a great future for our country and our children.
"Give us a clear mandate and we promise to use your trust to the best of our ability to build a Malaysia for all," he said.--Courtesy of The Star Online
