Putrajaya: Ninety per cent of the services provided by civil servants will be implemented online by the year 2015 to reduce the opportunity for corruption, said Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa.

He said the innovation emphasised under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA), besides reducing official intervention, would also reduce the opportunity or space for corruption and power abuse.

"With the online services provided, it will be more convenient for the people to deal with the government.

"As such, each department and agency must ensure that the target set for 2015 will be achieved by studying and developing the online application system concerned beginning now," he said when launching the Innovations Day of the Prime Minister's Department 2012 at the Putrajaya Inter-national Convention Centre (PICC) yesterday.

Ali pointed out that in realising the government's aspiration, all civil servants must ensure that there was no leakage of documents at the government level.

He said civil servants must understand the responsibility of ensuring that the security aspect continued to be given priority although electronic equipment was used as the medium in channeling communication and information delivery.

He said that civil servants must always think out of the box and should not be complacent with the existing development and innovation.

As such, Ali said besides being creative and innovative, civil servants must also find space, opportunity and other initiatives in providing more excellent services in line with the government's aspiration of Popularising the Civil Service and to create a more people-friendly public service. - Bernama
