Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old cook who forgot to lock his Proton Saga ended up losing RM1,500 worth of amplifiers to thieves on Tuesday.
He only realised his vehicle, which was parked at the Inanam area, was broken into when he wanted to drive the vehicle on Dec 27.
City Police Chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the car was broken into between 12.15am and 3.20am and that three amplifiers were later found in possession of a 27-year-old suspect at the Inanam area.
"A police patrol approached the local and found the stolen amplifiers in his possession.
"Subsequently, he was arrested," he said in a press conference here Friday.
In another case, two local men, including an 18-year-old, were finally arrested on suspicion of stealing two motorcycles worth RM5,000 on Dec 11.
Ahmad Sofi said the two motorcycles were reported missing at Star City here at 2.30am between Dec 2 and 9 this year.
"The first suspect, a 27-year-old former convict, was arrested at the Star City area at 2.30am, while the youth was apprehended at Kinarut at 5pm on the same day.
"Both motorcycles were found in the possession of the two suspects," he said.
