Engkilili: Many vehicles were stranded near Rumah Panjang Christopher in Pais, Skrang, yesterday when flood waters as high as three and a half feet inundated the road.

It is reported that the water overflowed from a stream near Pais following heavy rain near Sungai Ulu Skrang on Sunday.

The flood made about 500 metres of the road impassable to traffic, thus effectively cutting off the road link.

Many road users decided to head back home instead of waiting by the roadside for the water to recede.

Lorry driver Donny Kipa, who wanted to travel to Lidong in Skrang, said that only lorries, buses, and four-wheel drives were able to cross the area.

"I had to cancel my plans to pick up construction goods in Lidong. I will try again tomorrow if the road condition improves," he said.

It was believed that the flood near Pais will worsen due to tides at Sungai Batang Lupar Sri Aman yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, police in Sri Aman were dispatched to the affected area to control traffic.
