Bandar Seri Begawan, 4 May 2013 - The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) today jointly announced that on 1st May 2013 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has released its annual “Special 301” Report on the adequacy and effectiveness of U.S. trading partners’ protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) and market access for persons that rely on IPR protection. The most significant development is that Brunei Darussalam has been moved off the Special 301 Watch List. The “Special 301” Report is an annual review of the global state of IPR protection, enforcement, and market access, which the USTR conducts. For this year’s Special 301 Report, the USTR reviewed 95 trading partners and placed 41 countries on the Priority Foreign Country, Priority Watch List, or Watch List.
