Sunmedia Pte Ltd., Singapore (publishers of IN Magazine), in collaboration with India Tourism, Singapore and the High Commission of India, Brunei organised a 'Know India' Tourism Seminar today at Orchid Garden Hotel. The Seminar was attended by a senior official from the Tourism Department of Brunei, representatives from major travel agencies, hotel industry, airlines, various chambers of commerce and the press.
Mr. Neelakantham Yelamanchi Assistant Director of India Tourism, Singapore, listed out the various tourism potential of India and High Commissioner Ralte, after delivering his opening remarks, explained in detail the various types of Indian visas available and the procedures required to obtain them. The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of IN Magazine, Ms. Nomita Dhar, gave the audience an introduction to the various Northern Indian tourism sites and the various options available to tourists under the wellness and health tours. As part of medical tourism, she explained how it is advantageous to have medical procedures done in India since they are performed by highly competent medical staff and are extremely cost effective as compared to many other countries.
In a lighter vein, the MC's presentation of Bollywood moves was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. He also gave a brief presentation on Bollywood and how it is now possible to have a Bollywood tour package, which would include a studio tour with live shooting.
A panel of Senior Auditors from the Audit Department of Prime Minister's office, who had all gone to India for short training courses, sponsored by the Government of India over the last two years, and an Executive Member of the International Women's Club, gave their view on the part of India they visited and what attracted them there.
The Seminar was followed by an Indian buffet lunch, giving the audience a glimpse of the rich culinary diversity of India.
