Kota Kinabalu: The State Cabinet yesterday agreed to contribute RM100,000 to each family members of the security forces killed in Lahad Datu and Semporna.
Announcing the contribution, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said another RM50,000 would also be given to the members of the security forces who sustained severe injuries in the incident.
"At the same time, the state government will also consider other appropriate assistance to be given to the widows and children of the affected police personnel," he told reporters after chairing the State Cabinet meeting at Wisma Innoprise, in Likas near here.
Musa who is also State Security Committee chairman said the state government and all Malaysians in Sabah greatly appreciated the deeds and sacrifices of the security forces in defending the sovereignty of the country.
"Their sacrifices to the nation have significant meaning which cannot be evaluated in any way," he said.
Police commandos Inspector Zulkifli Mamat and Corporal Sabaruddin Daud were killed during a firefight with the Sulu armed intruders last Friday while six others - Supt Ibrahim Lebar, ASP Michael Padel, Sergeant Baharin Hamit, Sergeant Abd Azis Sarikon, Lance Corporal Mohd Azrul Tukiran and Corporal Salam Togiran were killed in an ambush in Kampung Sri Jaya, Simunul, Semporna.
