Johor Bahru - DAP has called for the police to make a "thorough investigation" into the incident of pig heads being dumped in front of a Johor mosque, and wants the IGP to personally give the case top priority.
In a statement today, DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh called the incident "a most provocative act and should be condemned by all Malaysians".
"DAP condemns with all the might at its command the dumping of pigs heads at the entrance of the Masjid Al Falah, Taman Desa Jaya in Johor Bahru.
"Those who perpetrated this vile act should be forthwith apprehended and punished," he said.
Calling for calm amongst Muslims, especially on the eve of the new year, the Bukit Gelugor MP said, "The police should embark upon a thorough investigation into the indicent. The IGO himself should give this matter utmost priority."
Yesterday a bag containing five pig heads was discovered at 6.30am in front of the said mosque.
This follows another incident in which two bags suspected to contain bones were discovered at 5.30pm on Thursday at the same mosque.
Johor CID chief Amir Awal said the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code for "wounding the religious feelings" of others.
The last such incident took place last year at mosques in Petaling Jaya, during the controversy surrounding the use of the word 'Allah' by Malay-speaking Christians that saw churches and mosques being vandalised.--Courtesy of Malaysiakini
