Gold For Brunei-Muara And ABDB

Tutong - Brunei-Muara and MS ABDB excelled during the National Pencak Silat Championship at the Multipurpose Hall of the Tutong Sports Complex yesterday as both teams bagged two gold medals apiece.

Muhd Ariff Abdullah Ismail and Ahmad Salman Abdullah of Brunei-Muara claimed the first gold of the day after scoring 563 in the Male Pairs category. Alif Yahya and Mohd Zainul Abidin Abu Zaini of Belait fell just short in second with a score of 558, edging Mohd Amirul Asri and Mohd Budriz Zaini of Tutong in third by a single point.

In the Men's Singles, Mohd Imanuddin Haji Ahmad of Brunei-Muara won the gold medal with a score of 474, narrowly beating Tutong's Abdul Azim bin Dukahar (471) in second. Pvt 18765 (U) Saiful Hilmi bin Ali Jacob of MS ABDB rounded off the top three with a score of 468.

Meanwhile, in the Men's Team category, MS ABDB picked up the gold medal with a score of 475, and were succeeded by Tutong (469) and Belait (401).

MS ABDB's Pvt 21482 Norleyharyanti Haji Raya enjoyed success in the Women's Singles category after claiming top honors with a score count of 458. Anisah Najihah binti Abdullah from Tutong clinched the silver medal after recording a score of 451, whilst Nur Syazwani bind Hadi's score of 441 was enough to earn her a bronze.

In the Women's Pairs, the Schools' Sports Council led the way after scoring 467, the same score shared by Tutong, but based on a unanimous decision, the former was awarded gold. Belait finished in third with 377.

Elsewhere, in the Men's C Class, Ak Mohd Ainul Yaqien Pengiran Hj Bolkiah of Belait proceeded to the finals after beating Temburong in the semis. Ak Mohd Ainul Yaqien Pengiran Hj Bolkiah will be met by Mohd Zul Hafifi Izwan Mohd Tamin, who beat Mohd Syukri bin Satu of the Bintulu White Crane Silat Club in the other semi-final.

In Class E, Mohd Amirul Asri bin Haji Ali Amzah of Tutong will meet Mohd Hafizuddin bin Haji Alidi.

Tutong will meet the Schools' Sports Council in the final of Class F. The former will be represented by Mohd Hazami bin Mohd Ali, whilst suiting up for the Schools' Sports Council is Muhd Badrul Nurehsan bin Rozi.

There was further success for Tutong when Mohd Fatullah bin Haji Ahmad reached the final after registering a victory in his Class G semi-final. Mohd Fatullah will be met by Muhd Zul Faizal bin Zainidi of the Schools' Sports Council.
