Bandar Seri Begawan - Twenty-three local go-karters competed in the first-ever night race for the sixth series of Brunei's Go Kart Race organised by the Brunei Darussalam Go-Kart Association (BDGA) at the Jerudong Park race track last night.
The night race was divided into two categories; novice 125 cc (15 racers) and senior 125cc (8 racers) with two heats per category racing in 15 laps each heat.
Participating in the novice category was Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Ghaffar bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, driving the number 14 kart.
According to Pg Mohd Alam bin Pg Tajuddin, the Head of Publicity at BDGA who is also the Chief Marshall for the race, top racers will accumulate points as they compete in each series. The racer with the highest accumulated points will be crowned champion at the end of the go-kart series, which is scheduled to be held by the end of the year.
Pg Mohd Alam also added that organisers treated each race according to the World Karting Commission (CIK) standards to instill discipline as well as to encourage good-sportsmanship among the racers.
