Bandar Seri Begawan - Datin Paduka Hjh Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports officiated the opening ceremony of the 2013 Gunners Fastpitch Softball League at the Gunners Softball Field at Jerudong Polo and Riding Club yesterday evening.

The opening ceremony was followed with the batting of the ball on home plate of the first ladies match between Divas led by Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah and Pasadena.

Divas made a comeback after being led for three innings and won the match 10-9 against Pasadena.

Both teams being former champions were playing very well with Pasadena leading 1-0 in the first inning, 3-1 in the 2nd inning and 6-3 up to the bottom of the third inning.

In the fourth inning, Pasadena's star pitcher, Dk Aqilah was replaced due to a groin injury by their second pitcher, Hjh Ediana.

She made errors in pitching conceding 5 runs and was replaced by their third pitcher, Rozielawati but was also not warmed up to pitch and did not meet the umpire's requirements for strikes and conceded another two runs which led Divas to lead Pasadena 10-9.

Dk Aqilah was then put back in as pitcher but it was too late a decision as the match was over on the top of the fifth inning after Pasadena failed to score runs.

Pasadena's' coach commented that they made a mistake in replacing the pitcher in the fourth inning but it couldn't be avoided, as the pitcher was injured.

"The players played really well with little errors in defence and very good offence. We will meet them again and this time, we will be prepared," he added.
