Bandar Seri Begawan - Synchronised swimmer Jacquelin Lim and her coach, Nur Anna Muin left for Hong Kong yesterday to compete in the Panasonic 8th Hong Kong Synchronised Swimming Open Competition.
It will be Jacquelin's second and last tournament for 2012, having competed in the 7th Singapore National Synchronised Swimming Open Competition in July alongside Nurhafizah Ahmad.
The 19-year old and her partner, Hafizah, bagged the silver medal after recording 58 points in the Duet Technical event at the Toa Payoh Swimming Complex in Singapore.
Nut Anna, who has been coaching Jacquelin for the last two and a half years, was hoping for a podium finish at least from her student.
"I'm thankful to her parents for their support and involvement, and although her school has interfered with training because of some of the activities she is involved in, I hope that she can do her best and get a medal," remarked the former Indonesian national synchronised swimming coach.
Jacquelin, meanwhile, was far less outspoken, but what she lacked in opinion, she made up for in ambition.
"I've been training for about four or five years now. We got silver in Singapore, so I'll be aiming for gold." said the Seri Begawan Sultan Science College student.
The days marked for competition will be from Nov 30 to Dec 2, with Brunei's sole representative expected to return, medal laden, on Dec 3.
