Bandar Seri Begawan- the former Gamba Osaka quartet, consisting of Masao Kiba, Tadayoshi Tamura, Koujiro Kaimoto and Shuzo Mori, rounded off their JENESYS exchange programme by lining up with DSP United in a friendly match against the Brunei U21 Sukma squad at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Friday. Present to witness the match, dubbed the Brunei-Japan Friendship Match, was the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, Hj Rosmadee bin Hj Daud, President of the NFABD, Dato Paduka Abdul Rahman Mohiddin, and the Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Japan.
The Brunei U21 Sukma squad, who had agreed to the match in preparation for the upcoming games in Pahang, played out a goalless first half, before Indera FC defender, Mohd Azawan An Rahman, broke DSP's resistance after 58 minutes.
Ak Muhd Dinie Hafizan Pg Azman wrapped up the win seven minutes from time to ensure that Brunei national team were heading to Pahang on a positive. The games are set to be held from July 2-17, -with high hopes for a team consisting largely of players that were part of the HBT triumph earlier this year.
