Thought of the Day:
"What is the "best" for you? What keeps you from giving those "best" things the time and energy you want to give them? Are too many "good" things getting in the way?"

Bandar Seri Begawan - Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) was established as a charity platform for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as well as members of the royal family to demonstrate their care towards the welfare of the citizens, while at the same time helping to shape a society that is both prosperous and peaceful.

In line with its vision of providing assistance and services to the community, the foundation yesterday made various contributions to several recipients, presented by the Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Hj Brahim bin Hj Ismail as guest of honour.

A sum of B$2,400 was presented to sponsor in part a three-day Syumul Youth Motivational Camp which commences today. The camp is organised by the youth group of Kg Beribi Mosque to mark the year-end school holidays. Fifty participants comprised of youths residing in Mukim Gadong are expected to take part in the youth programme.

The programme will include an 'Iktikaf' session at the mosque, prayer congregations, a talk and motivational workshop. The participants will also engage in both leisure and team-building activities during the camp.

The motivational camp aims to disseminate information and expose youths to meaningful experiences. It is meant to enable the youths to develop a love for the mosque, seeing it as a place for meaningful activities and a platform for social-welfare activities.

Present to receive the donation from Hj Brahim was the Deputy Head of Youths, Kg Beribi Mosque, Noorhazeerah binti Hj Ariffin.

The day also saw the presentation of school equipment to underprivileged families, which came in the form of coupons to purchase books and school stationery.

The contributions were meant to lessen the family expenditure for the provision of school needs, especially in view of the upcoming first-term school session in January next year. Students received B$60 vouchers for the purchase of school stationery and 20 exercise books printed by YSHHB.

A total of 138 primary school and 148 secondary school students received the contributions. The total in school assistance rang up to B$22,698.50.

It is meanwhile hoped that such contributions will be fully utilised by the students, encouraging them to strive harder towards achieving their academic goals.

Additionally, the gesture is hoped to create public awareness on the need to collectively care for the welfare of the under privileged and needy groups.

Also present at the ceremony were the assistant managing directors, officers and staff of YSHHB.
